Enrollment FAQ
Due to high demand, Toledo School for the Arts has more students interested in attending than we have space for. Enrollment at TSA is open to Ohio residents entering grades 6 – 12 and is via lottery.
Lottery applications for the 2025-2026 school year lottery are available on our website at ts4arts.org beginning on Friday, October 4th.
If you need help filling out your lottery application, please email us at admissions@ts4arts.org or call 419-246-8732 ext. 250 to schedule an appointment.
ALL supporting documents are due no later than 3 p.m. on Jan. 31, 2025.
The Toledo School for the Arts Lottery for the 2025-2026 School Year will be held on Feb. 28, 2025.
All lottery applications which are missing supporting documents, or are submitted after the deadline, will not qualify for the lottery and will only be placed at the end of the wait list for your grade level by request and after their completion.
After you fill out your initial lottery application, please allow 24 hours for us to import it into our system.
After 24 hours, it is your responsibility to log in to the online portal (where you filled out your lottery application) and view your supporting document checklist. The checklist is individualized and generated based on the information provided on your students’ lottery application.
ALL document checklist items must be submitted prior to Friday, January 31, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. to qualify to enter the 2025-2026 school year lottery. You may scan and upload your documents to your checklist via the portal, or you may bring them to TSA during the hours of 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Examples of supporting document checklist items required: immunization records, grade cards (current grade card and final 2023-24 grade card), proof of residency, birth certificate, standardized test scores from the past two years, and if applicable: current full year schedule (high school students), transcript showing earned high school credits, current IEP and ETR, custodial paperwork, or home school portfolio.
Older students applying to enter the lottery should be aware that TSA has specific and more stringent requirements for graduation than the State requires. A few examples are a high number of arts credits and two credits of the same foreign language. There are many times that an older student (primarily incoming 11th or 12th graders) will not have enough room in their schedule to meet all of the specific TSA graduation requirements in one or two years’ time, even if they have not previously lost any credit in school. We will review transcripts and provide feedback throughout the enrollment process. For a specific list of TSA graduation requirements, please see our student handbook by clicking this link: student handbook.
Due to the volume of lottery applications, most of the communication from Toledo School for the Arts during the lottery application process will be via email. Please be aware of this method of communication and if you do not see correspondence from us, check your spam folders!
TSA will be contacting you throughout the lottery application process for various reasons, such as reminding you that you have missing documents, requesting updated or different documents you may have provided, AND we use email to send lottery numbers.
If you have submitted all required documents and have not received a lottery number by February 24, please email admissions@ts4arts.org
Please be aware that the application review process involves several departments. The review process is not immediate and the lottery application and supporting documents can and may remain under review throughout the entire enrollment process which may extend far beyond the lottery including up to and until official enrollment. We can and may request document updates and verification throughout the entire enrollment season.
No. Your lottery number is just verification that you have met all requirements to enter the lottery. The lottery is the method we use to randomly assign students to a wait list. Wait lists are generated by grade level. Every person that completed their lottery application AND submitted all required documents prior to the Jan. 31 at 3:00 p.m. deadline will be entered into the lottery and be placed on a wait list for their grade based on the order their lottery number was drawn.
The TSA lottery is always held on the last Friday in February. Each grade level is drawn in a separate lottery and wait lists are created by the random computer draw lottery by grade level. Results of the 2025-26 school year lottery will be posted on our website and the front door of the school on Friday, February 28, no later than 5:00 p.m.
Toledo School for the Arts will schedule a Next Step Day for students. This Next Step Day is held solely to assist in the scheduling process, to determine appropriate skill levels and does not determine entrance into TSA. On this day, some auditions are given for placement purposes only and interviews are conducted so that we can get to know each other better. However, neither audition nor interviews determine acceptance or enrollment to TSA. Please note that an invitation to the Next Step Day does not guarantee that there will be an offer of a space or acceptance. More people are invited to the Next Step Day than we have spaces for as this helps facilitate the wait list process.
Invitations sent for Next Step Day are determined by grade and by the lottery wait list order. Appointments will be scheduled individually based on lottery numbers drawn and are necessary and required for admission. The Next Step / Informational Day for 2025 for all grade levels will be held on Saturday, March 22. More detailed information will be included with the Next Step Day invitation
It depends on what grade level you are entering. TSA now has an average of 115 students per grade level.
Because TSA is a 6 – 12 grade school, we need to fill the entire 6th grade. We will have approximately 110 spaces to offer to new 6th graders.
If your student is entering grades 7 – 12, we do not know how many spaces we will have to offer. Current students are given the opportunity to re-enroll the following school year. Everyone in grades 7 – 12 entering the lottery will be waitlisted. As spaces become available in your grade, we will contact families in the order of the wait list.
Initial 2025-26 offers will be made to students on the wait lists in May. Offers will continue to be made throughout the summer as spaces open at each grade level. Wait lists for the 2025-26 school year will expire on September 30, 2025.
