Portal Manager Job Description

Job Title: Portal Manager Job Status: Exempt

Reports to: Development Director Work Calendar: 250 Days

Primary Function:

The Portal Manager oversees bookings and operations of the Community Portal including the Porter Gallery, school store, silk screen shop, outside bookings in the Black Box Theatre, the Makers Space, TSA Artforce Team and Visual Art Outreach. In addition, the Portal Manager will create systems and protocol for a positive income stream of this social enterprise.

Major Responsibilities:

· Promotes TSA’s mission, philosophy, and vision.

· In conjunction with the Artforce Manager, operates an effective learning environment for those students interested in the retail process.

· Implements the business outline (plan) for each facet of the Portal.

· Manages all aspects of art sales through gallery and in other community-based venues to assure a profitable outcome.

· Coordinates and maintains accurate records regarding sales, expenditures, sales tax and student artist payments.

· Manages the hanging, scheduling, and booking of all art shows in The Porter Gallery.

· Manages Visual Arts Outreach projects, books and coordinates lead artists and manage student apprentices.

· Generates correspondence and maintains growth of customer base with development office.

· Engages with arts staff and students to facilitate production of prints and other student work for sale.

· Develops product lines and inventory of items for sale along with student-provided art services such as face painting.

· Develops contacts with artists and arts organizations in the community to further the visibility and reputation of the gallery; enhances educational opportunities and connections for students.

· Supervises student Gallery Interns and volunteers.

· Escalates issues to the Development Director as needed.

Qualifications: (education/experience/health and safety)

· Bachelor’s Degree required.

· State of Ohio Vocational Certification a plus.

· Experience in a school setting preferred.

· Ability to adapt to new/updated software and to train staff as needed.

· Keeps current with technology and other workplace innovations that support job functions.

· Available to work irregular hours and/or a non-traditional schedule.

· Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds.

· Well-organized and proficient in office skills.

· Conscientious and assumes responsibility for own work performance.

· Possesses high moral character and good attendance record.

· Meets all state-mandated health and safety requirements.

· Effective organizational, planning, and project management skills.

· A record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment.

· Complies with drug-free workplace policy.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

· Complies with TSA Board Policies as well as supervisory and/or administrative directives.

· Performs occasional off-site and evening/weekend responsibilities.

· Attends as many school events in support of TSA students as possible.

· Serves as a positive role model to students and positive representative of TSA to the community.
