Visual Art Department

The Visual Arts department at TSA offers a rich, hands-on experience in multiple forms of visual media. The Introductory, Art Explorations, and Foundations of Art courses let beginning students create expressive work in several mediums such as drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, and other crafts, yet experimentation with unconventional materials is also encouraged. Along with personal style and creativity, the visual art classes also address topics of cultural significance and art history. As students advance through the Visual Arts program, they may choose to continue their training in traditional fine arts mediums and/or pursue interests in photography or graphic design.

The Visual Arts Department displays student artwork at almost every TSA event or performance, but has received recognition in external venues as well. TSA art students have been recognized among Ohio's elite young artists in the annual Ohio Governor's Youth Art Exhibition and TRECA's Ohio Youth Digital Arts Contest. In 2005-2006 The Visual Art department was also awarded a grant to produce artwork for Toledo's Seagate Convention Center which was publicly displayed at the Center for over a year.
