Because charter schools operate mainly on state allocated funds, Toledo School for the Arts receives no local taxes and exists on $2 million less than a traditional public school of the same size. TSA operates on at least 40% less in funding from the state than area traditional public schools.
The Toledo School for the Arts Development and Marketing Department exists to help raise funds to sustain and support the growth of the institution. The department brought in over $270,000 in the 2008-09 school year and has a goal of $360,000 this year. The TSA Development and Marketing Department hosts several “Affairs to Remember” throughout the year. However, these special events provide only a fraction of the fundraising goal for the institution. Other funding comes from contributions from foundations and businesses as well as individual donors.
Marketing efforts also keep TSA very visible within the community through TSA Art Outreach Programs. Each year, over 250 students and staff members present programs educating the public on the importance of art in our society.

TSA needs your assistance in a number of ways. We realize that not everyone likes to do the same thing. Some of us have a “green thumb” while others of us love to talk to people. We have a place for all of you who would like to help the greatest school on the planet.
